Cloud-Native Storage from Robin.io supporting IBM Cloud

Now, IBM’s Cloud Kubernetes Service is supported by Robin.io, which offers hyper-automation and app-aware storage and data management for network-centric applications (IKS). IBM’s Cloud Kubernetes Service (IKS), which instals and maintains containers in the cloud, is directly integrated with Cloud-Native Storage (CNS) from Robin.io. Services from Robin CNS are already available for VMware Cloud Foundation, AWS, Azure, and GCP.

The CEO of Robin, ParthaSeetala, stated in a statement, “Supporting IBM customers that depend on IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service is another step in our effort to connect Robin Cloud-Native Storage with all of the environments that are most essential to our users. Additionally, according to Chris Rosen, programme director for IBM Cloud Container Service, “Robin CNS is designed to make it easy to install and manage stateful applications on IKS, allowing our users to effortlessly onboard workloads like MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, and more.”

Through standard API integration, Robin’s Cloud-Native Storage provides app-consistent snapshots and backups, thin clones, multi-cloud portability, and high availability. It also interacts with CSI and Kubernetes-native admin tooling. Storage and data protection vendors may now offer storage provisioning, data protection, and app migration services across any Kubernetes-managed cloud and on-premises settings thanks to Kubernetes’ access to services like CSI.

However, rather than being a product, storage and data protection for Kubernetes environments are more akin to services. Robin.io provides containerized applications with cloud-native data management features, including support for common operations like backup and recovery, snapshots, rollbacks, and more. The service provides support for databases including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, MariaDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and others and is generally agnostic to the specific database being utilised.
