By 2022, Facebook plans to release a smartwatch with a removable camera

Facebook, a major player in social media, plans to introduce its first smartwatch the following summer. The wristwatch will include two cameras, a heart rate monitor, and standard watch and messaging functionality. The intriguing feature is the ability to remove the cameras from the watch and utilise them to take photos or films to upload to Facebook’s apps.

Despite the fact that the world is already overrun with smartwatches, Facebook can generate attention if it can provide something novel. The Apple Watch is already well-known for its top features. In order to combine the greatest features of Wear OS and Tizen OS, Google and Samsung, which are both in the lead in the wristwatch market, recently completed the merger. Although it is now known just as “Wear,” the official name has not yet been disclosed.

In its hardware business, Facebook has not had much success. Oculus generated some attention, but Portal smart screens have not yet achieved success or even been introduced in many areas. “We’ve stated that we want AR glasses to be actually helpful, and we’re investing in technologies that will improve every aspect of that engagement. This study involves haptics, EMG, and adaptive interfaces that might combine in a wrist-based form factor “explained Andrew Bosworth, vice president of Facebook’s augmented and virtual reality division.

Facebook may charge roughly $400 for its first smartwatch, while the exact price is still unknown. Black, white, and gold are expected to be the three colour options for this watch. For its future wristwatch, Facebook has not yet chosen a name. The second and third generations of it are also anticipated to emerge in the next years.
